My name is Martina Cirbusová and I am a graduate of the Law Faculty at Masaryk University in Brno, Czechia.

Since my studies, I have worked for 8 years at the Office for the International Protection of Children, where I worked mainly as a project manager in the implementation of several projects funded by the European Structural Funds. I have combined theoretically gained experience in the training of Leading teams, Influencing People, and Inspiring and Motivating Individuals at the University of Michigan (implemented through Coursera online) with the practice of managing these projects. During this period, I had the opportunity to take part in resolving many conflict situations that took place, either internally within this institution between the various professions that worked here or between other organizations cooperating with the Office. A natural part of implementing change and innovative approaches is the initial resistance of those affected by the change, so a very common situation I had to face as a project manager was also systemic conflicts related to the need to mediate dialogues between innovating and innovated groups of employees. Significant negotiations then had to be mediated within the Office's external activities, for example in negotiations with the European Commission on project audits. I brought this experience also into academic field and have been teaching students how to implement alternative dispute resolution also in the field of project management.

Mediation, dialogue and dispute resolution have been a part of my professional life from the very beginning. However, I have been professionally engaged in mediation since 2016, when I completed basic training in transformative mediation, in which I profile myself to this day. Subsequently, I completed Conflict self management training in 2017 and Advanced Mediation training in 2018 under the guidance of foreign lecturers. In the summer of 2019, I also completed training in conducting transformative dialogue in the Netherlands. Since April 2019, I have been a certified mediator at the ISCT (Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation) in the USA. I am currently working for the fourth year as the head of the mediation center in Brno, where I lead a team of 14 mediators and at the same time I work as a family mediator with experience in more than two hundred cases. Since 2020, I have also run Marriage and Family Counseling Offices, presenting by a team of about 30 psychologists and social workers.

I work as a lecturer, facilitator, moderator and methodologist in many areas, where the key condition is the cooperation of several entities on a given topic or project. Since 2015, I have also been dealing with interdisciplinary cooperation and the application of the so-called Cochem model in working with families in disintegration in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In the system, which is based on the responsibility of parents for resolving the situation, I promote the inherent importance and contribution of mediation in both the professional and lay public.

I work as a lecturer in the Czech Republic and abroad in the areas of children's participation rights, mediation and interdisciplinary cooperation. In June 2019 I was one of the lecturers in Divorce and Family Mediation Training (Minneapolis, USA) and in August of the same year in Basic Transformative Mediation Training (Los Angeles) together with Dan Simon, whom I accompany as a teacher till these days, I am currently also stable online training instructor for ISCT.

Since 2023 I am board member and fellow of the ISCT.
